At the Cusp of Freedom: How to Let Go to Step Into What's Next

Updated: Aug 28

Have you ever felt it? That quiet hum of restlessness. A sense of being stuck. The low-level ache of disconnection.

Maybe you're a leader facing new responsibility, a person in transition, or someone who just knows - deep down - that something has shifted, even if you can't name what yet.

The truth is, meaningful growth rarely begins with clarity. It begins with discomfort - a signpost that something inside you is ready to change.

At Cusp of Change Coaching, we believe that discomfort isn’t a dead end. It’s an opening. A cusp. A threshold. And walking through it often begins by releasing what no longer serves - especially the desire to control how others perceive you.

One of the most freeing reframes I’ve encountered lately came from Mel Robbins' “Let Them” theory. At its heart:

Let them think what they want.

Sit with that for a moment.

Let them misunderstand.

Let them disapprove.

Let them talk.

So much of our energy gets caught in the Circle of Concern - fretting about things outside our control, especially the opinions of others. But what if we redirected that energy inward? Toward what’s actually ours to hold?

That’s where the CUSP Pathway begins:

Centering

We start by noticing what’s present - including the tight grip of needing to be seen a certain way.

Uncovering

Then we explore: Where did this need come from? What stories are driving it? Whose approval are you waiting for?

Sourcing

From there, we reconnect to your values. Your inner compass. Your clarity. Not to prove anything to others, but to return to yourself.

Propelling

And finally, we take aligned steps forward - from wholeness, not performance.

Letting go of others’ approval doesn’t mean you stop caring. It means you stop shrinking. You stop molding your choices around someone else’s comfort.

You live, speak, and lead from your center.

That’s the beginning of real freedom.

If this resonates, if something in you is saying “This is my cusp,” let’s talk.  Book a complimentary chemistry session and explore what might be possible when you let go - and step fully into what’s next.
